Junior Chorus
Hull Choral Union Junior Chorus was formed in February 2009 to celebrate the 80th Season of our choir. We are delighted to be sharing our musical experience with a new generation of singers and we invite all children who enjoy singing, to come along and give it a try.
The Junior Chorus is for boys and girls between the ages of 8 –12. They may have sung before or they may not have sung before. They will certainly not have to be able to read music to join – enjoying singing or wanting to try it are the most important things.
We offer special taster sessions to give children an idea of what the Junior Chorus will be like. We can visit your school and deliver a 20-25 minute presentation during which pupils will learn a typical song that we will be singing. We’ll bring a young singer with us, our ‘Vocal Ambassador,’ and invite some of your own confident singers to take part in the presentation too.
We offer a really exciting programme of activities that will develop children’s vocal skills and we aim to create a fun, friendly and supportive atmosphere so everyone can experience the positive benefits that singing can bring. We sing music in many different genres and there will be opportunities to sing with professional musicians and the adult choir in the magnificent Hull City Hall. We encourage the children to get really involved in the running of the Junior Chorus, having a say in what they sing and how the group is organised and we offer opportunities to older students to train with us as accompanists and deputy chorus leaders.
The Junior Chorus is led by Janice Summers and James Hendry.
We meet on Wednesday evenings at the Priory Centre, Priory Road, Hull between 6-7pm.
If you are interested in joining or coming along to find out more, please contact Janice: Tel : 07590 680 610 or email: juniorchorus@hullchoralunion.org
